In the summer of 1976 a thoroughbred arrived on the backside at Belmont Park. His exercise trainer, Mike Kennedy, told one of the electricians on site there was a horse who could “cut a hole through the air.”  That horse was Seattle Slew and the electrician was Leonard Soave. The dream of Soave Stables was born.

Established in August of 2005, Soave Stables is a lifelong dream fulfilled. It is the love for the sport of thoroughbred horse racing shared by father and son that inspired Joseph Soave to create this family enterprise whose primary focus is to breed and race thoroughbred horses.

Advised by James LaMonica, co-owner of Empire Stud, a premier New York Stud Farm, Soave Stables is built on the philosophy that the happiest horse is allowed to be simply, a horse. Their primary goal is to send a sound and happy horse to the racetrack. Allowing horses to do what they love, and to do what comes naturally, combines to make a winning formula in the world of thoroughbred horse racing.
